So as a lot of you will know I have been at Greenwich Market welding bracelets and anklets on to lots and lots of very happy customers for the past year. It's a really satisfying experience for both customers and myself, I really enjoy it. Many come back for more stacking them high and bringing their nearest and dearest along too. It really is hard to explain what is so captivating about the whole thing. There seems to be two settings as far as this all goes: I am either twiddling my thumbs or have queues. As soon as someone sits down, to be welded it's like a light has been switched on and I hear lovely voices echoing "ahh it's that new craze", or "ahh I've always wanted one but they are soooo expensive" or "shall we treat ourselves" or "do you have to pay extra for the welding?" Then the queues start... It's so interesting. You should come along and try it. Prices start from just £20 for a sterling silver bracelet and that includes the welding lol.

So i know I keep promising to blog and never do, but a little genius called Tom has advised me it will really help.
So what I am going to do is tell you about my little 'MARKET MOMENTS' as every weekend I meet the most amazing people, from all over the world. Todays 'MM' is a favourite. Many of you will know about my naughty profanity rings. Well they are not entirely my idea. I used to do nice ones with LOVED or FIERCE on them, which sold occasionally, however, one day a lady asked if I could make her a FUCK IT ring instead. I probed her further, as I was stamping FUCK IT into the silver. She proudly told me that she had just passed her five year clear of cancer milestone. She went on to tell me that she used to be too cautious, hesitant and overthink everything, but now that she had beaten cancer she felt she could take on anything... FUCK IT just do it... I made five FUCK IT rings and they sold out the next weekend, the LOVED rings just sat there for months... So that was how they were born... I am going to make a point of blogging more often... I promise...
OK the market is now in its second lockdown. This not only means I can't meet my lovely "trader" friends, but I also can't see my lovely customers who, over the years, have also become friends. It's true you know... You, really, don't realise what you have, until it is gone. A week ago, today, I was giggling and chatting, learning and enjoying your company. I learned that Connecticut IS spelt differently to how you pronounce it... I thought the English had that, weird phenomenom, nailed with Worcestershire and Worcestershire Sauce. I learned that there was 'No Way' we would know the Presidential election result on the 3rd of November.... It would take MUCH longer. I learned that market life goes only ever, one of two ways... 1. Sitting, twiddling your thumbs, worrying you're not going to get any customers... to 2. Everyone turning up at once, queue's forming, me worrying that I am too slow and taking up too much of your time... I also learned the best bit of all... I posted a post on my Instagram saying that this was going to be the last time that I would be there for a while... I was fully expecting people to stay in the comfort of their own homes as the Covid figures were rising, it was a crappy day weatherwise etc etc... I was trying to encourage my lovely friends to come and say hello/goodbye for a while.... Because I sincerely thought I would have time to natter and chatter... So for all of you lovelies - Tony, Paul, Sabi, Londondub, Sean, Freddy, Depti, etc, etc... (I know there were many more please let me know so I can add you). Thank you, so much, for taking time out to come and see me... Thank you for supporting small businesses, like mine, every single purchase you make, go's towards feeding my lil crotch fruits, paying the bills etc... Sadly not towards my, third, luxury yacht... I wouldn't have it any other way... Stay in touch ... Here's a cute chick pic to make you smile... her name is Rum... She is a very soft, fluffy little chick, that will live in bliss for the rest of her life, and NO... she will NEVER become dinner... she will die of old age, with her great, great, great, great, great (repeat) grandchildren by her side... Look at those peepers.... she was born with eyeliner that we, mere mortal Human Sapiens, crave...
Well that was a short year... Here are some of the pieces I have been creating...
Gold seems to be the up and coming trend... particularly layering it with your unique silver pieces... Enjoy.... You all know, I love my job.... Today I have had some wonderful, feedback from several happy customers... This always means so much to me.
When one of my treasures goes off into the big wide world, I often wonder about the recipient, their response, did it fit, are they happy etc, etc. Today I had many of those questions answered. Thank you. You know who you are. Law x It's early Thursday morning and the kids are getting ready for school... I will be back to the bench to refill sold stock. As my little Jewellery Empire is building this is becoming a longer process...
I really enjoy designing new pieces, so always try to fit some 'play time' in. This week I made a little English Cottage pendant... I stopped making them years ago, as they take so much time... but I couldn't resist... It has come out rather well. But my favourite piece this week is my Luxi Max Fella Ring... Love it so much that it isn't for sale... YET... Let's hope 2017 brings us the ability to order garlic bread in a restaurant without anyone doing a Peter Kay impression.... Law x "La Fantome" directed by Jake Scott, starring Mads Mikkelsen and Barbara Steele and STARRING Hair Pins... by Law... |
